Roberto Rup Paolini is a multidisciplinary artist, currently living and working in Milan. His work often develops within crepuscular atmospheres and is focused on the observation and elaboration of emotions, both personal and collective, as well as on the emotional condition of the individual within contemporary society. The use of arcane and symbolic figures, rooted in a folkloric and fantastical imagery, intertwines with contemporary and popular aesthetic references, resulting in pictorial and graphic works characterized by vivid, sanguine colors, where light emerges from shadow and encounters a mesmerical dimension.

After graduating from an Art High School, he qualified as an Editorial Illustrator at the Arte&Messaggio School of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. He began his professional career as an Advertising Art Director, initially working in the digital field and later in print and television, creating campaigns for brands such as Campari, Vodafone, TIM, Yamaha, Volkswagen, Audi and Bialetti. Some of these projects received awards and were published in ADCI annuals and specialized magazines.

Following an experience in the film industry in Rome, he worked as a director for advertising, music videos and corporate projects, producing and directing two documentaries (Arrivederci a Taranto, 2008; La Visione Romantica, 2014) and a feature-length fiction film (L'Estraneo - The Outsider, 2018), which were presented and awarded at international festivals and screenings.
In 2017 he founded a cinematographic collective project called Carboluce, with the purpose to research and promote new stylish self-produced movies. In 2020 he is the Executive Producer and Creative Director of the collective movie Film Fantasma.

In recent years, he has exhibited works of painting, video and installation at galleries, institutions and artist residencies in Italy and abroad, including ONOFF, Hasita, Triennale Milano, Oscillazioni (Pontremoli), Futuro Arcaico (Bari), Casa degli Artisti (Milan), 079|Stories (Ahmedabad, India) and Artaffect (Sofia, Bulgaria).
