Atavica labels

Atavica is a 17-hectare organic farm located in the Tuscan Maremma that produce low-intervention organic-certified natural wines and organic olive oil. We have 5.5 hectares of grape vines (Sangiovese, Vermentino, Pugnitello, Foglia Tonda) and 5.5 hectares of olive trees (Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo).

The stylistic research process for the labels started from the references of the farming project, inspired by the roots of the Etruscan civilization that once inhabited the lands of the Tuscan Maremma, where the Atavica company cultivates its vineyards and olive groves.

The works found its expression through the encounter between the artist's previous research, linked to the symbolic and archaic figures of folklore, and the manufacts of the ancient Etruscan civilization. A material and figurative exercise, which elaborated an encounter between past and present, towards a dreamlike suggestion, a new mythology, a collection of figures that could convey all those values inherited from both the ancient civilization and the spirits of the sun, rain, earth and all those elements that nourish the wines and oils produced by the company.

The final result is a selection between more of 70 drawings are the result of both a figurative and improvisational exercise, using ink as a texture to evoke matter and the collective archaic imagination.
